Windsor Rabbit Hutch

Rating:
97% of 100

Frequently a top seller. The Windsor is a good-looking, solid hutch, designed with plenty of practical features, all at a low online price.

The Windsor rabbit hutch has over 15 sq feet of secure space over two levels and can also be used to safely and securely house rabbits and other small furry pets. (Click here for our larger Windsor Hutch With Run)

Windsor rabbit hutch

It has 2 fully opening doors which makes it very easy to access the living areas of the hutch. The doors are lockable with top-quality barrel locks, a feature many similar designs don't offer.

The large slanting weatherproof roof keeps the rain out. The roof also opens up and can be held in place by two metal stays. This gives you, even more, ways to access the hutch as well as allowing you to take a peek at your pet from above whenever you need or want.

There is also a free and optional roll down weatherproof flap. This can be secured to cover the large open door and is ideal for when the weather is foul and there is driving rain.

Windsor Rabbit Hutch

The hutch is fitted with strong heavy duty wire built into the frame for extra durability. The run underneath is accessible via a front opening door and there is also one on the side. Access to the lower run area is via a non-slip ramp.

open bottom rabbit hutch

A large (fully removable) pull-out tray with a heavy duty plastic lining makes it easy to wipe down and clean. The top and bottom sections of this hutch can be closed off should you need, thanks to a handy trap door.

Where can we deliver to?

Orders can be delivered anywhere in mainland England, Wales, and most areas in the lowlands of Scotland. If you live outside these areas we then, unfortunately, cannot deliver our products to you. This includes the Channel Islands and Northern Ireland (IM, GY, JE, BT)

Like most online companies we rely on (3rd party) courier companies to deliver all our orders around the country. As much as we would love to get our products in the hands of as many people as possible the cost of getting our hutches to anyone who lives outside mainland England and Wales is prohibitive - sometimes more than the actual cost of the product!

Delivery to Scotland

We can deliver to most lowland areas in Scotland. These include the following postcodes: DD1-7 , DG , EH , FK1-6 , G , KA1-26 , KA29-30 , KY , ML , PA1-19 , PH1-2 , TD

If you live outside these areas then unfortunately, we are unable to offer delivery due to the high extra charges levied by the courier companies we use. You are welcome to arrange your own courier to collect from us, or we can deliver the items to a courier up north for onward journey to you.

Delivery to the Isle of Wight

The courier company that we use can deliver to the Isle of Wight. However, there is a delivery surcharge of £70 per order.

*This is an estimate based on the majority of orders sent, however, we cannot absolutely guarantee it.

1. Is there a Run for the Windsor?

Yes, you can purchase an add-on run for the Windsor at any time. Here is the link to the Windsor Run. It works out a little cheaper if you purchase the Windsor with the run at the same time.

2. Is the Windsor Hutch big enough for two rabbits?

Alot will depend on the breed of rabbit, how you intend to keep your rabbits and how much time they will get to interact outside the hutch. There is a huge difference in the amount of space a British Giant needs when you compare it to a Netherland Dwarf.

You know your set up best, which breed you intend to keep and how you intend to keep them. You can get all the measurements from our product pages so you can make an informed decision before you purchase. For more information click here

3. Can the Large Folding Run fit up against the Windsor?

While it is possible to have the large folding run fit up against the Windsor hutch this will restrict the use of the pull out tray and other areas of the hutch. The Large Folding run was never really intended for this purpose and is designed as a stand alone run. We do actually have an add-on run that was designed to fit the Windsor hutch.

4. Is the Windsor Hutch fox proof?

We would like to think that our Windsor Hutch is made to a higher standard than most other suppliers in its price range. While we have purposely used thicker, sturdier wood, wire and locks with the aim to make it as safe and secure as possible for your pets we cannot absolutely guarantee that foxes and other predators won’t try and target them.

Foxes are by far the biggest threat that your pet will face so if you are going to keep your rabbits or guinea pigs outside then we also urge you to take these added precautions especially if you know you have foxes in your area.

5. Is the wood treated?

Yes, the Windsor Hutch comes with a base coat treatment of wood preservative. But as with all outdoor wooden structures in our harsh climate, we recommend that the timber is treated on a regular basis to ensure a long life. There are many popular products available with Cuprinol , Ronseal and Wilkinson amongst the better-known brands. A lot of customers use and recommend these:

Caring For Your Hutch

As with most outdoor products the lifespan of your hutch can be dramatically prolonged just by taking a few simple steps. Click here for our product care guidelines.

Positioning Your Hutch

If you plan on keeping your hutch outside then we highly recommend that you position it in a protected area which is not overly exposed to the elements and protected at all times from high winds (or sudden gusts).

If you intend to place your hutch or run in your garden then please be aware that a soft or uneven surface can make it easier for foxes and other preditors to gain entry by digging. Some rabbits and other pets may also be able to burrow under and escape, so caution is advised.

The Wood We Use

The majority of the wood we use in this product is a highly durable, kiln-dried white pine which is noted for its resistance to decay and rot. Most rabbit hutches made in the U.K use this type of wood. But unlike many other manufacturers, we use more of it.

You'll find that the framework is thicker and the majority of the hutch uses a solid tongue and groove construction (and less cheap plywood). This is why our hutches tend to be sturdier, heavier and last longer than many of the cheaper options out there.

Dangerous Animals

We would like to think that our Windsor Hutch is made to a higher standard than most other suppliers in its price range. While we have purposely used thicker, sturdier wood, wire and locks with the aim to make it as safe and secure as possible for your pets we cannot absolutely guarantee that foxes and other animals (dogs, badgers, stoats, cats) won’t try and target them.

Foxes are by far the biggest threat that your pet will face so if you are going to keep your rabbits or guinea pigs outside then we also urge you to take these added precautions especially if you know you have foxes in your area. (This advice also applies to other animals that may pose a threat.)

Unwanted Chewing

Unfortunately, there is always the possibility that some rabbits and other rodents may chew parts of their hutch. This is out of our control and the onus really is on you to take the necessary precautions straight away to prevent or lessen the chance of them chewing parts of their hutch.

Our wooden hutches, like the majority of wooden hutch sold in the U.K, are not chew proof and we can't be held liable for any damage caused to or by your pet chewing or gnawing the product. Prolonged chewing can also weaken your hutch and decrease the protection they offer against foxes.

We recommend trying out our new Anti Chew Strips and taking a close look at all the steps you can take to stop or at least lessen the chances of your rabbit chewing things they shouldn't.
